About Sourcebee
Working Together
Team members want to help each other succeed, and the tools that exist for source control are helpful, but fall short when we work as a team or organization. Sourcebee is a GitHub app that aims to help your team and organization work together...better.
By giving your organization real-time views for pull requests, CI/CD pipelines, and releases, Sourcebee helps your team see what teammates need to ship faster. At the same time, Sourcebee also provides strategic insights and visualizations for illustrating how your organization and its teams are performing overall.
PRs go stale, CI/CD jobs can fail for days or weeks, and measuring the org's performance is difficult to quantify for the team itself, let alone stakeholders.
Sourcebee allows your team to see your GitHub org's work in real-time, all at once.
Built By a Dev, For Dev Teams
Over the past 20 years, I have been a part of many engineering organizations, from startups to Fortune 100 enterprises. All of them were full of smart, talented, and creative people, yet at each one work coordination was still a problem. Our communication was constant, and we wanted to get everything done right and shipped out on time, but keeping up with each other was a job in and of itself. We tried to bridge the coordination gap by constantly sending and checking messages to make sure nothing got lost, which just added to the clutter of information surrounding us. What we needed wasn’t more messages, it was a better tool.
Instead of constantly checking—and potentially losing—messages, I decided to build a personal dashboard so I could see the pull requests that mattered to my team. I built this in a couple of different ways. The first was a Golang webview app, and the second was a bash script. These methods worked great, but there were still some issues. Both were tied to a long-polling task (and GitHub has API usage limits for direct requests), they were only on my machine, and webhooks wouldn't work because I'd need a constant connection to GitHub.
Another issue I often saw was broken CI/CD pipelines that failed without anyone knowing. Sure, the GitHub emails may have been going out, and alerts were sent to Slack, but those all got buried quickly in the barrage of messages to each team member throughout the day. Because of this, the pipeline issues usually got noticed when it was too late... ask me how I know.
Building Sourcebee
In the summer of 2025, during a neighborhood walk, I thought about how I could solve this for more teams than just mine. As I circled the block, an idea started to form and I could see in my mind something similar to what Sourcebee has become.
Today, Sourcebee is more capable than my personal dashboards could ever have been. I hope it helps your team work together... better.

How we think about your data
Measuring the Team
Sourcebee is meant as a collaboration and teamwork tool, not for individual monitoring and analytics. It was purposely built under the principle that individual team members don't need to be monitored on their output. (Which in today's AI-enabled development, pure output is clearly not the issue.) When teams are measured as a team, they can work together as a team, and then succeed as a team. All analytics data is at the org or team level. Sourcebee org admins and owners see the same data as ICs and AI tools.
How your data is used by Sourcebee
The data stored by Sourcebee is only used for your org. It won't be used to sell you stuff from third parties, and it won't be used to train AI models. The only data that is tracked by Sourcebee is general usage, which is normal for web apps to help improve the product itself. If you're familiar with privacy-first website analytics, that's what's being used. You can see the privacy policy for all the details.
